Located at the western tip of Lake Balaton, Keszthely has a population of nearly 20,000. The bustling city is full of life in both winter and summer, offering a rich variety of tourism, culture, gastronomy, entertainment, children's and other leisure activities not only for residents, but also for visitors. Keszthely is one of the cities around Lake Balaton that has significant potential. Tourist centre
A wide range of programmes await to be discovered and used throughout the year in Keszthely, the “capital of Lake Balaton”. Water adventures
Thanks to the local features of the Lake Resort residential park, you can enjoy the sports and recreational opportunities offered by Lake Balaton directly on the shore of the property. There are several hiking and thermal bath opportunities nearby to enjoy some relaxation. Hévíz, Hungary’s top thermal water destination, is just a 10-minute drive away. It gained its worldwide fame with Europe’s largest thermal lake. Other spas such as Zalaszentgrót, Gelse, Zalakaros, Zalaegerszeg or Kehidakustány are also only 20-30 minutes away.
Festetics Castle
The construction of the Castle began in the mid-18th century, but it only assumed its final form in the 1880s after large-scale rebuilding and extensions. The Castle is a monument of outstanding significance for Keszthely, and hosts numerous cultural events every year, some of which in the ceremonial hall of the Castle.
Kis-Balaton
The Kis-Balaton lake with its wildlife and bird-watching opportunities is only a half-hour drive from Keszthely. It used to be an open bay of Lake Balaton, but became filled with sediment over time and turned into a marshy sea of reeds and sedges. It is a strictly protected nature reserve with a particularly rich birdlife.
Balaton Uplands
For lovers of hiking, trekking and those who prefer to spend their time outdoors, Keszthely and its surroundings are the perfect destination. Vonyarcvashegy is located 5 kilometres from Keszthely, and sitting 136 metres above sea level it offers a stunning panorama of Lake Balaton. Other exciting places include the Balaton Uplands National Park, Helikon Park, the Tapolca Lake Cave, or even Sümeg Castle.
Hévíz-Balaton International Airport
One of Hungary’s five international airports, it is located about 12 km southwest of Keszthely, a 10-minute drive from the Lake Resort residential park that is currently under construction. Seasonal and charter flights operate from the following cities: Berlin, Frankfurt, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Dresden, Erfurt and Leipzig.
